Bathroom Sink Plumbing

The Bathroom sink plumbing consists of a few different parts that can leak, break, or become blocked. If you opt to purchase a part, call a plumber or look something up. It is essential if you know all the names of the plumbing pieces. Quality sinks usually last for approximately 15 years before replacement.

Water Supply Pipes

They connect to the shut valves and transport water to the faucet. You should always check the shut-off valves and supply lines occasionally for leaks and install new supply lines when replacing your faucet.

Shut Off Valves

The Shut off valves makes it easier to turn off your running water especially to those isolated areas for repairs. There are various types of shut off valves depending on your bathroom sink plumbing system and the kind of installation.

P-trap

The P-traps are mostly installed in sinks to prevent the sewer gas smells filling up the home because they are easy to fix or replace. P-trap has two parts; trap arm and U-bend. U-bend is usually longer than the other and takes the U shape. It is always installed backward. Trap-arm is a straight line that directly connects to the U and the drain pipe.

Drain Pipe

The drain pipe is one of the parts of the bathroom sink that gets out through the wall or down the floor, connecting to the rest of the house’s main drain pipe. This part of the tube plays a significant role by shifting the bathroom drain after carefully checking for any other leaks or stoppages on the different sections of the pipe.

Pop-Up Drain

This bathroom sink plumbing part is made up sections above and below the sink. The pop-up pieces located below the sink consists of the tailpiece and the horizontal rod that makes the stopper to move up and down in the tub. When clearing a blocked drain, you usually start by removing the rod to extract the stopper and clearing any buildups collected on the stopper.
